Why Chevrolet Express Van is the Best Ancient Buy and the Top Performer?

The Chevrolet Express continues to perform exceptionally in the marketplace. For the 2020 model year, the full size line of vans available in Cargo, Passenger, and Cutaway variants receives several changes and updates.

So without further delay, here is what’s new for the 2020 Chevrolet Express.

Express Cargo Van

The 2020 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van skips the optional Cargo Package, which consists of the 6.0L V8 Vortec L96 engine, 12 months of GM Commercial Link, and spray-in cargo liner.

Previously the package was before a choice on the 2500 trims. In addition, the upfitter electrical provisions are no more on the list.

In the variant of a diesel-specific torque converter and centrifugal pendulum-type absorber, the new features include an eight speed automatic transmission for the 2.8L inline-four LWN turbo-diesel Duramax engine attribute.

Rounding out the modification is the addition of the front license plate kit as standard tool, as well as the removal of the power-adjustable, manual-folding outside mirrors (DE5) from the Enhanced Convenience Package.

Express Passenger

The alterations to the 2020 Chevrolet Express Passenger are the same, including the omission of electric provisions and additions of the improved eight-speed automatic transmission/mechanism for the 2.8L turbo-diesel inline-four Duramax engine, in the form of a centrifugal pendulum-type absorber and diesel-specific torque converter.

What’s more? The manual-folding outside mirrors (DE5) and heated and power-adjustable seats are deleted from the Enhanced Convenience Package. That package is only available on the 1LS model, which comprises of;

  • Vortec 6.0L L96 V8 SFI engine
  • 12 months of GM Commercial Link
  • Heavy-duty trailering equipment
  • Driver Convenience Package
  • Remote keyless entry
  • Remote vehicle starter system

Finally, the front license plate is now standard on all the models.

Express Cutaway

Finally, the 2020 Chevrolet Express Cutaway adds up the front license plate kit as conventional. In addition to it, seat-mounted side-impact airbags for the right-front passenger and driver, as well as roof-rail mounted head-curtain side-impact airbags are now presented on vehicles with a GVWR of over 10,000 pounds.

And that is all that’s new and diverse for the 2020 Chevrolet Express list. The Chevrolet Express vans date back to 1996- In 2003, the model gained a refresh of sorts, that some consider to be as a second-generation, even though the underlying architecture remains unchanged.

Hence, the 2020 Express replicates the 25th model year of the Chevrolet Van. A replacement is rumored to be via a future electric van, but nothing official has been announced at this point.

Why The Chevrolet Express Is the Most Ancient New Car You Can Buy?

Here is something which is unknown about the Chevrolet Vans: The archaic car on the market is the Chevrolet Express and its GMC twin-the Savana variant.

Yes, that’s right!! The Chevrolet Express and the GMC Savana have now been on the market for 24 years, largely unchanged since its inception. These variants also received a facelift in the year 2003 — but even if you count that, they are still the ancient vehicles on sale today.

Moreover, the facelift was entirely cosmetic, as the vans kept their transmissions, platform, interior, powertrains, and even most of the same body panels overall.

The vans have made some modifications over the years. Although they utilized a 4-speed automatic until 2014, that finally vanished, and now you can choose between a 6- or an 8-speed automatic transmission. Engines have come and gone- The old school 4.3-liter V6 was replaced with an updated one last year and there is now a 2.8-liter turbodiesel Duramax 4-cylinder in its work and functioning. Moreover, the 1500 models were discontinued in 2014, leaving just the 2500 and the 3500 variants.

But in layman term, this is the same old van you could get back in 1996. It’s offered in two configurations;

1. Cargo van

2. Passenger van

This means the Express is there and, always there, and it’s even rendered in a rather lovely shade called Kinetic Blue Metallic scheme. Not that anyone would perceive, of course, because it is only sold in white — as it has continued to do so last 24 years now.
